Coffee in Mohican: Friendly Mornings and Locally Roasted Beans

One of the pleasures of a Mohican getaway is having time for a proper coffee stop. You can take a cup along for the day, but sometimes the better plan is to sit down, say hello, and see who walks through the door. These are the places we would start, including a downtown favorite that made me feel like a regular on my first morning with the crew.
Stela’s Ice Cream Shoppe & Coffee House: Join the Morning Crew
Stela’s is our first stop for coffee in downtown Loudonville. It is also an ice cream shop, but in the morning it has another role: a gathering place for people who know one another and are happy to make room for someone new.
On a Saturday morning visit, I watched ten or more locals arrive almost as soon as the door opened. Everyone was friendly, and before long I felt welcomed as a new member of the morning crew. That is the part of the visit that stayed with me. I came in for coffee and left feeling a little more connected to the town.
For visitors, that welcome is a reason to slow down. Order your coffee, take a seat if you have time, and enjoy being in Loudonville for a while. You do not need a packed itinerary to have a memorable morning here.
Stela’s is on West Main Street, making it an easy place to begin a downtown outing. If you find yourself back in town later, there is always a reason to return for ice cream.
Evergreen Coffee Roastery at The Hemlock Inn: A Little Western Character
Evergreen Coffee Roastery at The Hemlock Inn is another place we love. The beans are roasted right in the back room of the building, giving the coffee a connection to the place you are visiting. For anyone who enjoys discovering local roasters, that alone is a good reason to stop.
The atmosphere reminds me a little of the American West: relaxed, outdoorsy, and comfortable in its own style. The owners are wonderful, and their enthusiasm is part of what makes the place memorable. It feels well suited to a town where so many people come to spend time outside.
Evergreen’s small-batch lineup includes its Mohican Blend and Hellbender Espresso Blend. A bag of beans makes a practical souvenir, whether you want coffee at your rental the next morning or a reminder of the trip once you are home.

Mohican Country Market: Coffee with Something to Eat
Mohican Country Market is another option when your morning stop needs to include food or supplies for the day. Its coffee service and market offerings give you a chance to pick up a drink, baked goods, and other provisions during the same stop. It is an easy addition to your plans when you are heading back to a cabin or getting ready for time outdoors.
Check the market’s current coffee service, café, and store hours before visiting, as they may differ.
